Emerson has many students and organizations that host events. This is exhibited through EmConnect’s event page and flyers on bulletin boards. The Beacon Living Arts section went through the events for the next week and picked out a few that seemed interesting.

Talk the Vote

With midterm elections coming up, Emerson is providing an opportunity for students to participate in the action. The School of Communication is partnering with WBZ and iHeart Radio to broadcast “Talk the Vote” live this Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bill Bordy Theater. The show will feature prominent speakers including professor Spencer Kimball and students from Emerson Polling Society to discuss the midterms.

Senior Success Fair

Graduating students can attend the Senior Success Fair on Wednesday. Multiple departments and offices will be present—including the Office of Alumni Relations, the Office of Student Success, and the Commencement Office—to answer questions about post-graduate life. Students can enter to win prizes like EC Cash, meal swipes,  Amazon gift cards, and more. The fair is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Bill Bordy Theater.

A DACAmented Journey

On Thursday, “WET: A DACAmented Journey” opens at the Paramount Center. Written and performed by award-winning actor, director, and spoken-word artist Alex Alpharaoh,  this true story exposes the emotional and psychological hardships of an undocumented person in America. The production, both hilarious and heartbreaking, takes the audience into the realities of one man’s relentless journey toward becoming a documented citizen. Shows are scheduled until Nov. 25 and tickets are available on ArtsEmerson’s website.

First-Generation Celebration Day

First-Generation College Celebration Day is Nov. 8, and colleges and universities around the country will celebrate the success of first-generation college students. At Emerson, the new student organization First Gen E-M will partner with the Office of Student Success to host a jazz reception in the Beard Room from 2 to4 p.m. All students are welcome to enjoy free food and discuss the first-generation college experience.
