FAB approves appeals to EAGLE and AEPhi for events

The Financial Advisory Board unanimously approved two appeal requests at the weekly Thursday meeting.

Emerson’s Advancement Group for Love and Expression appealed for $4,992 to fund the 23 events planned throughout October for the celebration of Queer History Month. These funds would go toward food for events, merchandise, the Haus of Emerson Ball—previously known as Drag-tober fest—and funding to support a visit from RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Jujubee.

President of EAGLE Christopher Henderson-West said tickets for the events are free but attendees must RSVP due to limited space in the Bill Bordy Theatre.

Alpha Epsilon Phi appealed for $18,446 to fund next semester’s Ribbons on the Runway. The money would help run and market the event. Ribbons on the Runway, a fashion show fundraiser to benefit Jewish women fighting breast and ovarian cancer, is AEPhi’s largest philanthropic event of the year. The event is tentatively scheduled for February.

“I’ve been to Ribbons every year since I was at Emerson, and the magnitude of the event and the work that the sisters put into the event really shows,” Class of 2019 Representative Joseph Miranda said.

Due to AEPhi’s request being above $5,000, the approval from FAB will move forward to joint session for a final approval next week.
