Intramurals coming to gym

Following the success of the fall basketball tournament, Emerson College Athletics Department and the Department of Student Activities will sponsor indoor soccer and dodgeball games this semester. The one-day tournaments will take place before spring break and will be held in the Piano Row gym.

Co-ed, five-on-five soccer teams will face off Sunday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. Teams will play three separate 12-minute games in a round-robin style. Two females must be on the playing field at all times. Four field players and one goalie will play during the contest, but only two varsity players are allowed on a single roster. Deadline to enter the tournament is Feb. 15.

Dodgeball teams of six-on-six will play Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m. Single-elimination style will be used during the tournament and three females must be on the court to begin each game. Deadline to enter the contest is Feb. 25.

The three-on-three basketball tournament, held in the fall, attracted 12 teams and over 40 student athletes. The tournament attracted undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty members, including a team of Securitas officers.

No fees are required to play and trophies will be awarded to the winning teams. Participants are limited to Emerson students, faculty and staff.

Teams can sign up at the Fitness Center in the Little Building or at the Athletic Department offices in Piano Row.
