Tuesday, Sept. 19

Sodexo reported catching a student who had attempted to shoplift items from the Paramount Café. 

 

The Emerson College Police Department (ECPD) and the The Boston Fire Department (BFD) responded to the dining center for a carbon monoxide alarm. BFD checked the lower level and found a zero reading for carbon monoxide. There were no evacuations of the dining center. Bennett Communications was notified to reset the alarm system.

 

Thursday, Sept. 21

ECPD found the front door to the Barnes & Noble bookstore unlocked. A complete check of the bookstore showed no sign of a break-in. The location was secured afterwards.

 

A student reported being assaulted by a person unaffiliated with the college while walking near the Boylston Place Alley. The student was not injured, and ECPD is working on identifying the person involved. 

 

ECPD removed a person who had gained entry into the Union Savings Bank Building. When confronted by an officer, the person said they were trying to find a bathroom.

Saturday, Sept. 23

A student reported being intimidated by several people asking for money while walking down Boylston Street.

 

Sunday, Sept. 24

ECPD confiscated alcoholic beverages from underage students attempting to enter the Colonial Building.

 

Monday, Sept. 25

ECPD and BFD investigated two separate carbon monoxide alarms at the dining center. Both times, no carbon monoxide levels were detected, and the alarms were considered malfunctions.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 26

A student reported to ECPD that they were grabbed by the hands while walking toward the Paramount Center. The student was not injured, and the perpetrator fled after the student pulled away.

 

A member of the Office of Housing and Residence Life turned over a glass bong to ECPD that was found inside a student’s room.

 

Wednesday, Sept. 27

A staff member reported being harassed by someone unaffiliated with the college to ECPD. 

 

ECPD investigated multiple reports of someone screaming for help by the alleyway near 150 Boylston Street. Officers conducted an exhaustive check of the campus as well as the Piano Row and 2 Boylston Place residence halls without finding any evidence of the person screaming. 

 

Thursday, Sept. 28

An ECPD officer on foot patrol was attacked by a man while walking down Boylston Street. The man believed the officer had hurt or killed his friend by hitting them with a car just moments prior to the incident. The man was placed under arrest for assault and battery of a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

 

Two students reported being followed by a man while walking near the AMC Loews Theater on the way to the Paramount Center. The students said as they approached the Paramount Center they confronted the man, who denied following the students. ECPD is working to try to identify the individual involved.

 

Saturday, Sept. 30

An ECPD officer found the front doors to the Paramount Theater unsecured. A thorough check of the entire theater did not find any signs of intrusion. The officer found one theater employee working who did not know how the front doors were opened. The employee secured the doors.
