A trio of teams were in action last Saturday at Emerson’s homecoming. The day’s events, which included an alumni soccer match and a catered tailgate, featured the men and women’s soccer team and the women’s volleyball squad all in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference action.

Women’s Soccer

Homecoming kicked off at noon with women’s soccer taking on NEWMAC opponent Mount Holyoke College. Emerson graduate student Alexandra Dezenzo had eight of her team’s 19 shots on goal but the team couldn’t manage to get a score.

The Lions’ defense allowed only two shots on goal. However, both of these attempts found the back of the net unassisted by Mount Holyoke first-year Sara Sanaύ Ruiz in the thirty-first and thirty-ninth minute and the Lions fell 2-0 for their first loss of the year.

Emerson is now 0-1-1 in the NEWMAC with a 7-1-1 overall record.

Men’s Soccer

The men’s soccer team lost their third straight match getting blanked by conference opponent Springfield 2-0. The Pride scored their goal in the eighth and twenty-seventh minute. Lion senior goalkeeper Carter Bowers had twelve saves.

The Men are now 0-2 in the conference and 2-6 overall.

Women’s Volleyball

The women’s volleyball team took on Springfield in NEWMAC play but couldn’t quite get a set in their favori as they lost 25-12, 25-22, 25-22.

Freshman Fara Cohen had four kills, two service aces, and three block assists while junior Jules Augustine, Junior Annie Hall, and sophomore Brittany Schoellkopf each had five kills.

The volleyball team is now 1-3 in the conference with a 6-6 overall record.
