An Emerson staff member has tested positive for COVID-19, marking the first diagnosis within the college community, President M. Lee Pelton announced in a statement Wednesday.
The staff member was last on campus Saturday but did not come into contact with students or faculty members, Pelton said. The staff member is now in quarantine at home.
According to the statement, the college is reaching out to those who were in contact with the staff member.
“We realize this information may be difficult to receive,” Pelton said in the statement. “Please know that the College will remain in communication with the staff member and is providing support to this individual during the recovery period.”
Pelton did not identify the staff member in the statement and asked the community to respect their privacy.
Other college officials could not be immediately reached for further comment.
