Emerson alumni start non-profit theater company

Not all jobs come with a hefty paycheck, a fact 12 Emerson alumni working together in Los Angeles know all too well.

The Brimmer Street Theater Company, officially founded by 10 Emerson grads in 2007, is a non-profit acting ensemble based in Hollywood. The organization strives to develop original theatre, breathe life into the classics and welcome artists whose work challenges established forms and expectations. Now in its second production, the company currently has 12 Emerson graduates on board with degrees ranging from BFA acting to visual media arts.

Michael Bulger, ’03, is the executive producer of Brimmer Street’s newest production i3,/i more commonly known as “less than three.” An alumni of Emerson’s visual and media arts program, Bulger said working for the company is a job that pays in passion for their art.

“It’s a labor of love,” he said. “It’s a lot of work and we really are committed to it.”
