Events: Comedian Geoff Keith
December 11, 2012
When Geoff Keith isn’t busy signing the body parts of his eager admirers, he laughs for a living. Keith, an up and coming actor and comedian, is coming to Emerson as part of his current cross-country tour.
On Wednesday, Emerson Mane (yes, Mane) Events bring Geoff Keith to the Max Mutchnick Center to share his comedy and experience with the Emerson community. This is part of the Emerson Mane Events Comedy Showcase series.
Geoff will participate in a question and answer session following his comedy performance where he will answer questions regarding how to start a career in comedy, acquire an agent, and pursue a life as a comedian.
After several hours of driving across California and performing at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, nudist colonies, restaurants and bars, Keith got his big break on MTV’s hidden camera prank dating show “Disaster Date.” For two seasons he surprises unexpected daters with different personas, such as “Mayhem the Wrestler,” “Mr. Romance,” and many others.
Jason Meier, the director of student activities at Emerson, brought four students to the National Association of Campus Activities to meet with talent agents, learn ways to save money, and watch potential performers, including Keith, for Emerson Mane Events.
“We were really impressed with his comedy style,” said Meier. “Emerson has such a strong comedy scene. We wanted to introduce Emersonians to new comedians that are doing what many Emerson students hope to achieve.”
The Emerson Mane Events series will feature multiple comedic acts throughout the year.
