EVVY Awards debut new honor for inspirational students

“So many Emerson students do so many things, and so many of them go unrecognized for the impact they make,” said award co-coordinator Jay MacFadgen.,The EVVY Awards are now offering a different way to honor students who make a difference. The Award of Distinction, formerly bestowed only upon influential alumni, is being extended to students this year as well.

“So many Emerson students do so many things, and so many of them go unrecognized for the impact they make,” said award co-coordinator Jay MacFadgen. “I think it’s going to be a great addition to the show this year.”

The senior marketing communication major said that the award was created in order to honor a student who has contributed to the community within their field of study.

According to an e-mail from the EVVYs’ marketing coordinators, the Student Award of Distinction “serves to recognize a particular student who has had a positive impact on the Emerson community, a personal community or the greater community of the world.”

This is the first time that a student will be eligible for the honor, and any student, faculty or staff is able to nominate someone. Nominations are open now through April 5.

Past recipients of the Award of Distinction include notable alumni such as Henry Winkler and Max Mutchnick.
