who need an excuse to go to the Museum of Fine Arts: There’s a party! Tonight, the MFA is hosting its fifth annual College Night from 7 p.m. to midnight.

who need an excuse to go to the Museum of Fine Arts: There’s a party! Tonight, the MFA is hosting its fifth annual College Night from 7 p.m. to midnight.

According to the MFA, some 3,400 students passed through the doors to enjoy art, live music, gallery activities, and a dance party at last year’s College Night.

This year’s performances include “Love in Stockholm,” a soul/rock band comprised of Berklee School of Music and Boston University alumni whose songs pay tribute to the city they spent their college days traversing.

Interested students should note, though, that seating for the concert is limited and first-come, first-served. However, if you miss the first performance at 8 p.m., there is another at 9:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand according to the MFA is singer/songwriter Liz Longley, a Berklee

student, who is Garageband.com’s all-time number- one rated female vocalist for acoustics,

according to the MFA.

She will be playing in the BRAVO restaurant with free coffee at during her performance

at 8:30 p.m. The dance party, which begins at 10 p.m. in the Lower Galleria, is manned by Northeastern alumnus DJ Ghostdad.

Of course, one of the highlights

of the night is still the art, and visitors have access to the museum’s impressive permanent collection, as well as many exhibitions.

The MFA is currently showing a photography exhibit called “Viva Mexico: Edward Weston and His Contemporaries”

and “Vida y Drama: Modern Mexican Prints,” “Tibet and China Confluences and Contemporary Outlook: Seeing Songs,” to name a few.

However, in addition to art and music, there is a unique event this year: “Slam Jam,” an LED hula-hooping party from 8:15-9:30 p.m. in the West Wing lobby.

The hoops light up, making for some extra-flashy hip action. But for those looking for a more traditional

art museum night, there is also a drawing session in the Koch gallery and in the upper galleria throughout the night.

Of course, as with any good party, there will be snacks (in this case, Mexican food from Qdoba and drinks from Nantucket Nectars),

coffee and prizes.

Be sure to bring your college ID to show at the door. The MFA stop is on the E branch on the Green Line, or a short walk from Kenmore Station.
