Photos: Boston Marathon is more than a ‘race’

The eagerly anticipated 128th Boston Marathon brought nearly 30,000 runners from more than 100 countries to Massachusetts on Monday, April 15. Hundreds of thousands of spectators flocked to cities along the journey, taking to the streets to cheer their families, friends, and all the runners. The 26.2-mile course, starting in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and ending on Boylston Street in Boston, resonated with constant cheers, the ringing of cowbells, and a wealth of emotion throughout the course. As runners crossed the finish line, they showed every emotion, from exhaustion to excitement.

To jog your memory, check out these photos captured by Beacon Staff photographers throughout the day.
