Teen arrested for Loew#039;s stabbing

Sylvester Cooper, 18, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a knife, at the Loews Theatre on Tremont Street Saturday night after officers recognized his face from a security video, police said.

Two victims suffering from “slash wounds” were sent to the New England Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred inside the theater lobby at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to witnesses.

Upon arrival, officers learned a third victim had admitted himself to the hospital. Officers recognized Cooper’s face from a security video inside the lobby and arrested him.

“There was blood splattered on the tiled floor in the lobby and a purple and turquoise baseball cap on the floor,” said sophomore Cassidy Brettler, who witnessed the crime scene.

Brettler said she saw two young people tell the police of another blood trail outside the theater.

“There was definitely visible blood on the sidewalk,” the broadcast journalism and theater studies double major said. “I almost stepped in it.”

Cooper was arraigned on Tuesday at the Boston Municipal Court, where bail was set at $5000. He was ordered to return to court on March 4.
