Bookstore announces renovations and partial move

Part of the Emerson College Bookstore is scheduled to relocate on Dec. 5, to a new location in the Tufte Performance and Production Center.

While the store’s current location will continue to sell general reading books and college apparel, textbooks and school supplies will be available at the new Emerson College Textbook Annex, Barnes and Noble Regional Manager Glen Hoyle said.

The renovations will reduce the store’s current space in order to make room for the ECPD’s new offices, which will be relocating from the Little Building as a result of next year’s dorm construction, Hoyle said.

The store will be closed Thursday and possibly Friday for renovations, according to the bookstore’s website.

Sofia Naumovski, a freshman journalism major, said she was surprised by the construction when she walked into the store earlier this week.

“[The store] looks kind of awful right now, but I understand why they’re renovating the store,” she said. “It’s good to see that they’re keeping the store updated.”

Hoyle said he remains hopeful that by the end of winter break, both stores will be fully operational and renovations complete.
