On behalf of all those involved with the Emerson Stage production of X Dance, we believe an apology is in order for the incorrect captions that accompanied the photographs in the article “Boston Ballet dancer shot” in the Oct. 5 2006 issue.
These photographs were taken during a rehearsal for X Dance in a rehearsal studio in the Colonial Building, not at Boston Ballet as stated.
This particular rehearsal was for the dance choreographed by Tyler Ashley and is one of eight dances being student choreographed under the artistic direction of Marlena Yannetti.
We regret that the dancers photographed for your article were falsely represented and misinformed of The Berkeley Beacon’s intent.
We are disappointed and saddened by the unprofessional methods taken by The Beacon in acquiring and using these photographs for an article about a highly politicized and personal issue for the dance program, including many of the dancers involved in X Dance.
We wish more honesty and integrity had been used every step of the way when creating this article, not only so that the location and activity of the dancers in the photographs had been accurately noted, but also that those who care about the issue most might believe in the credibility of the article.
