College hires first full-time Title IX coordinator

Emerson has named Pamela White as the college’s first full-time Associate Vice President for Title IX and Clery Act Coordinator, according to an email sent on Sept. 2 by Sylvia Spears, vice president for diversity and inclusion.

A search committee has been looking for someone to fill the position since April 2014. White will take over the position from Interim Title IX Coordinator Betsy Facher Rauch.

White has formerly held the titles of Executive Director of Equity and Access, Title IX Coordinator, and Director of Compliance and Conflict Resolution at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, commonly known as Virginia Tech. Before that, she served as the Coordinator for Equal Opportunity Programs at Florida Atlantic University. Both universities have populations of over 30 thousand students, compared to Emerson’s population of around four thousand.

“I am pleased to have Pamela join the Division of Diversity & Inclusion,” Spears wrote in the email, “and hope you will join us in welcoming her to the Emerson Community in the near future.”
