Community mourns VMA student, fraternity brother

Updated 8/12/16; 7:15 p.m.

Jack Jardin, a senior visual and media arts student, died Wednesday in a car accident on Interstate 95. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, according to the Boston Globe, which first reported the incident.

President M. Lee Pelton informed the Emerson community of the loss in an email Thursday. Jardin was a member of campus fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and planned to attend Emerson’s Los Angeles campus next month, according to Pelton’s email.

“Please keep Jack’s family and friends in your thoughts during this very difficult time,” said Pelton in the email.

The Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home in Westwood, Mass. will hold visiting hours for relatives and friends from 2-6 p.m. on Aug. 13, according to the funeral home’s website. Funeral services will be private.

Westwood High School set up a GoFundMe.com page to raise money for a memorial scholarship in Jardin’s name. The scholarship was fully funded on Friday, but the school is still accepting donations that will be used to create a film studio at the school that will be dedicated to Jardin.
