At a Nov. 3 rally in Penn. giving his closing statement to the country, Former President Trump said he “shouldn’t have left” the White House after losing the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden. 

“I shouldn’t have left,” Trump said. “I mean, honestly, because we did so, we did so well.”

John Kelly, former Trump chief of staff and retired Marine general, said his former boss “met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law,” according to The New York Times. 

Additionally, Kelly confirmed reports that Trump spoke of Adolf Hitler in a positive light on more than one occasion. 

“He commented more than once that, ‘You know, Hitler did some good things, too,’” Kelly said.

Former President Trump held a rally in Butler, Pa. on Oct. 5, at the site of an assassination attempt on his life in July.  

Trump was joined on stage by billionaire Elon Musk, who baselessly claimed that 2024 will be the last election if Trump does not win. 

“President Trump must win to preserve the constitution. He must win to preserve democracy in America. This is a must-win situation,” Musk said. “Get everyone you know, drag them to register to vote. If they don’t, this will be the last election.”

At a Turning Point Action summit, however, Trump claimed that the country would be “fixed” and that Christians “won’t have to [vote] anymore” if he is re-elected in November.

Former President Trump and Vice President Harris participated in their first presidential debate on Sept. 11 at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. 

The candidates looked to differentiate themselves on policies such as the economy and abortion. Trump said Harris “doesn’t have a plan” to improve the economy, whereas Harris detailed her plan to create an “opportunity economy.” 

Trump defended the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022, returning the power to legislate reproductive policy to the states. 

“I did a great service in doing it,” Trump continued, “It took courage to do it.” 

When asked whether he would veto a hypothetical national abortion ban passed by Congress, Trump said such a ban would never happen.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump at a campaign event in Phoenix, Ariz. 

“In my heart, I no longer believe that I have a realistic path to electoral victory,” Kennedy said. “I cannot in good conscience ask my staff and volunteers to keep working their long hours or ask my donors to keep giving when I cannot honestly tell them that I have a real path to the White House.” 

On joining forces with Trump, Kennedy called it a difficult but worthwhile “sacrifice.” 

“My joining the Trump campaign will be a difficult sacrifice for my wife and children, but worthwhile if there’s even a small chance of saving these kids,” Kennedy said. 

Soon after Kennedy’s announcement, five of his siblings railed against his decision, calling it a “betrayal.” 

“We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise, and national pride,” the statement said. “Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story.”

Former President Donald Trump held his sole rally of the week in Bozeman, Montana on Friday evening, Aug. 9.

Tim Sheehy, candidate for US Senate in the state, spoke at the rally, railing against his opponent, incumbent Democratic Senator Jon Tester.

“Tester is a rubber stamp for the Biden administration,” Sheehy said.

Trump took to the stage after 11 p.m. EST, echoing Sheehy’s comments about Tester. Trump additionally took aim at President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Less than three months from now, we are going to defeat radical left Democrat Jon Tester … We’re going to evict crazy Kamala,” Trump said. “If Biden didn’t do the debate, he would still be running. [Harris] is worse than he is.”

Trump further claimed that Harris has not been transparent with members of the press.

“If you can’t do a press conference, you can’t be president,” Trump said.

When speaking with reporters on Thursday, Harris confirmed that she and her campaign team are working to schedule a sit-down interview by the end of August.

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have agreed to a Sept. 10 debate on ABC News.

Trump was participating in a press conference at Mar-a-Lago when ABC confirmed that both campaigns agreed to the debate terms.

According to ABC, Trump was initially scheduled to debate Biden on the same day, but had since implied that he would not debate Harris in the same format after Biden dropped out of the presidential race.

Former President Donald Trump spoke at a press conference held on Thursday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Trump spoke about a potential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, saying that “the other side” needs to agree to terms for a potential debate on FOX News.

“I look forward to these debates. I hope she agrees to them. I think it’s very important to have them. Sept. 4, 10, 25. I think they will be very revealing,” Trump said.

Trump’s first line of attack against the Biden-Harris administration was on their handling of the border. Trump claimed that the government is “emptying prisons” and “asylums” throughout the United States.

“We have a president [who] is the worst president in the history of our country,” Trump said. “We have a vice president who is the least admired, least respected, and the worst vice president in the history of our country.”

Trump added that Harris was “nasty” toward Biden, referring to the 2020 Democratic debate where Harris challenged Biden’s previous position on busing.

With 90 days until Election Day, speculation continues to loom over potential debates between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. 

Trump was initially scheduled to debate President Joe Biden on Sept. 10 on ABC. Biden has since dropped out of the race and endorsed Harris for the Democratic nomination. 

Trump announced he would commit to a Sept. 4 debate against Harris on Fox News in a post on Truth Social. 

“I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, Sept. 4th …” Trump said. “The moderators … will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.” 

Trump suggested that the debate should be held at an arena with a live audience. 

Harris remains committed to the Sept. 10 debate on ABC, the campaign saying that “Donald Trump is ‘running scared’ hoping that Fox News will ‘bail him out’ of the debate he had already agreed to with ABC News.”

Trump held a Q&A with members of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) at its national convention in Chicago on Wednesday, July 31. 

The Q&A was moderated by Rachel Scott, a senior congressional correspondent for ABC News; Harris Faulkner, anchor of the Faulkner Focus; and Kadia Goba, a political reporter at Semafor. 

According to a statement from NABJ prior to the event, Vice President Kamala Harris is also invited to participate at this year’s convention, but her “confirmation is pending.”  

Trump alleged that he did not know that “Harris was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to ‘turn’ Black.” 

There was audible laughter coming from the audience after this remark. 

At a press briefing on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to the marks in real-time. 

“What he just said what you just read out to me is repulsive, it’s insulting. No one has any right to tell someone how they identify,” she said. “She is the Vice President of the United States, we need to put some respect on her name.”

Trump announced he would return to Butler, for a rally, after surviving an assassination attempt in the same county nearly three weeks prior. 

In a post on Truth Social, Trump added that he would honor Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who was killed at his July 13 rally. 

“I will be going back to Butler, Penn. for a big and beautiful rally, honoring the soul of our beloved firefighter hero, Corey, and those brave patriots injured two weeks ago,” Trump said. “What a day it will be.” 

Trump has not committed to debating Vice President Harris at an event originally scheduled for Sept. 10. 

Steven Cheung, communications director for the Trump campaign said it would be “inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds.” 

In a post on X, Harris replied, “What happened to ‘any time, any place?’”

In his first major speech since the attempted assassination, Trump took to the stage at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wis., to lay out his vision for a second term. 

“As Americans, we are bound together by a single fate and a shared destiny,” Trump said. “I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America.” 

While Trump previously dubbed his speech as a call for national unity, he quickly reverted to lashing out against political rivals, most notably President Joe Biden. 

Hours before delegates took a roll-call vote to formally nominate Trump as their party’s nominee, Trump announced Ohio senator JD Vance as his running mate in a post on Truth Social.

“I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator JD Vance of the great state of Ohio,” Trump said. “During the campaign, [JD] will be focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American workers and farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond.” 

Vance previously served in the United States Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University and Yale Law School, and is the author of “Hillbilly Elegy.”

Trump became the latest president to face an assassination attempt at a campaign rally held in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. 

A 20-year-old Pennsylvania native shot at the rally stage from the rooftop of a nearby building that was directly outside the Secret Service perimeter. 

Trump’s ear was grazed by a bullet and largely recovered from his injuries. Corey Comperatore, a firefighter from Pennsylvania, was killed at the rally while reportedly protecting his wife and daughters from gunfire. Two additional attendees were injured and were taken to local hospitals to receive medical attention. 

At his Mar-a-Lago resort, former President Donald Trump announced his intent to run for re-election surrounded by allies and supporters. 

“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States,” Trump said. 

Trump added that his 2024 campaign will not be his alone, but that “this will be our campaign together.”
