Emerson’s COVID-19 testing site at Tufts Medical Center will transition to a summer schedule beginning on May 3, adopting new hours and barring off-campus students from accessing the facility.
The summer schedule will be vastly different from the center’s existing procedures, according to a Tuesday morning email from Assistant Vice President for Campus Life and “COVID Lead” Erik Muurisepp. Those who are able to access the facility over the summer—on-campus students in summer housing and with on-campus jobs, as well as staff, faculty, and contracted vendors who will regularly access campus—will only be required to test once a week, a decrease from the twice-weekly requirement imposed this semester.
The center will also operate under new hours, opening at 8:00 a.m. and closing at 4:30 p.m. each day Monday through Thursday. Over the summer, the center will be closed Friday through Sunday. During the semester, the center opened at 9 a.m. and closed at 6 p.m., and was open each weekday.
The testing center will be closed for holidays on Monday, May 31, and Monday, July 5.
Along with the alterations to hours of operation and testing frequency, community members will no longer be required to schedule tests through the Emerson mobile app or testing.emerson.edu following May 4.
“If you have been approved to test for the summer, you will be given specific instructions on testing dates and times and it will be your responsibility to adhere to the testing requirements,” Muurisepp wrote.
Muurisepp said more information regarding the Fall 2021 semester will be released over the summer, but encouraged students to reach out with any questions.
