In the team’s last match of the season, sophomore forward Adam Halliday earned three of the Lions’ four shots on goal in their loss to the homestanding Beavers (11-7-1, 4-2-1 NEWMAC) at Hartwell-Rogers Field in Wellesley. Emerson was outshot 20-8 in the match and had fewer corner kick opportunities, 6-2. Sophomore goalkeeper Carter Bowers made just two saves over the full 90 minutes, allowing six goals out of eight Babson shots on target.

Nov. 3: NEWMAC Championship
Player of the Meet: Nik Rodewald
Junior Nik Rodewald earned the top spot for the Lions in the NEWMAC Championship with a 91st-place finish out of 112 runners and time of 30:09. Senior Brendan Stackhouse finished with the second-fastest time for Emerson, with a 100th-place finish and a time of 31:09. Roy Wedge, a senior from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, finished in the top overall spot with a time of 25:07. The Lions finished last out of eight teams.

Player of the Meet: Ali Dokus
Junior Ali Dokus finished in the top spot for the Lions with a 63rd-place run in the NEWMAC Championship with a time of 20:46. Jenna Castro, also a junior, earned the second-best finish for Emerson, coming in 93rd place with a time of 21:44. Elaine McVay, a junior from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, finished first overall with a time of 18:16. The Lions came in last place out of 11 teams.

Player of the Match: Melanie Escobar
In the last match of the season, freshman goalkeeper Melanie Escobar made 10 saves for the Lions on 12 shots on frame from the Cougars (5-13, 2-8 NEWMAC) in Worcester. Emerson’s lone tally came after freshman midfielder Annie Carroll set up sophomore midfielder Tayllar Rhigini for a goal in the 34th minute, Righini’s sixth of the year. The Lions were outshot 23-8.

Nov. 2: Emerson vs. Clark
Player of the Match: Alyssa Thorne
Senior outside hitter Alyssa Thorne led the Lions in kills in her final Emerson match, tying with freshman middle blocker Julianna Augustine for a team-best six kills as host Emerson fell in straight sets to the visiting Cougars (14-14, 4-6 NEWMAC) in their conference and season finale. Freshman Amanda Linzmeyer had four kills in her first match since August, after missing most of the season due to a torn meniscus. Junior Kat Rice had four kills and two blocks, while sophomore Giuli Frendak had 24 assists as the Lions lost by set scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-17. Senior Jamie Morgan had 11 digs in her last college match, while classmate Brandy Eggerman finished off a season in which she was the only Emerson player to appear in every set of every match. Morgan, the Lions’ top defensive specialist, led the team with 385 digs for the season.
