A drum ensemble preluded Wu’s election party at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts.
Supporters of Wu brought her posters to the party.
Wu stepped onto the stage for her victory speech at 10:49 pm. She hugged the staff members of her team with joy.
Her supporters cheered when Wu stepped onto the stage. “Wu! Wu!” they cheered.
“You know I love this city more than anything,” she said. “I’m never going to stop fighting for this city that I love. I’m never going to stop fighting for the people that I love.”
Wu’s election team stood behind her throughout the speech.
Michelle Wu is the first Asian American and woman elected the mayor of Boston.
