1 Indianapolis Colts (7-0)

The Colts have now won 15 in a row as a franchise dating back to last year’s Super Bowl.,Some rise, some fall. Here’s a look at the NFL halfway through the season.

1 Indianapolis Colts (7-0)

The Colts have now won 15 in a row as a franchise dating back to last year’s Super Bowl. That is nearly a full NFL season. They are 7-0, have played statically better teams than the Pats and have done it partly without future hall of famer Marvin Harrison. I don’t care what ESPN says, or how badly Belichick runs up the score, Indianapolis has to lose a game before they lose the number one spot.

2 New England Patriots (8-0)

Just because they stay at number two does not mean New England isn’t the best team in the NFL. They are winning by an average margin of over 25 points, look unstoppable on offense and have Randy Moss every week. Next week we’ll find out who is the best when the Colts and Pats square off.

3 New York Giants (6-2)

The Giants have won six in a row and are an obvious choice after the Pats and Colts for the hottest team in football. Battling nasty conditions last week in the NFL’s version of an outreach program in London, the Giants managed to win ugly. But maybe that’s just it; everything is going their way.

4 Dallas Cowboys (6-1)

Philadelphia has been a tough place for the Cowboys to play. They have lost seven of their last eight in Philadelphia and that’s exactly where they are heading this weekend.

5 Green Bay Packers (6-1)

Brett Favre pulled off a mini-miracle last Monday, beating Denver in overtime. The Pack are a game ahead of the Lions for the NFC North lead, making their Thanksgiving showdown even more intriguing.

6 Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2)

Business as usual last weekend for the Steelers at Cincy. With very few hiccups thus far, Steeltown is still very much in the thick of a Super Bowl run.

7 Tennessee Titans (5-2)

The bad news is that Vince Young is not getting it done on offense right now. The good news is that the defense, and the team overall, are doing just enough each week to win close games.

8 Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2)

Del Rio deserves a lot of credit. He has a good system in place. Why? Two words: Quinn Gray.

9 San Diego Chargers (4-3)

Although they are on a nice three-game winning streak, it is important to look at who the Chargers have played. The teams are a combined 8-14. No need to get too excited, Turner’s still got a lot to prove.

10 Detroit Lions (5-2)

Pigs fly and there must be a winter in hell, because the Detroit Lions (yes, those Lions) are playoff contenders. Just about halfway through the season, the Lions are 5-2 and one game out of the top spot in the NFC North. Things might just be clicking in Detroit, but it might be a few more weeks before a real judgement can be made.
