Christina Zamon, Emerson’s head of archives and special collections, was selected to be a participant in the 2015 Archives Leadership Institute, a program that provides advanced training for 25 archival leaders.

The Archives Leadership Institute is held each year, and will be at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa this year.

According to their website, the Archives Leadership Institute received applications from archive workers throughout the United States, and the applications were reviewed by a committee based on responses to a series of essay questions.

Zamon said the program is an intensive, one-week long workshop for archivists, primarily in managerial level positions.

“It is designed to provide opportunities for the attendees to continue advancement in their leadership skills and abilities,” Zamon said. “It also gives you a chance to meet new people and make connections within the profession.”  

Currently, Zamon is in charge of giving access to students, faculty, and outside researchers to use Emerson’s archives and special collections given to the college from outside donors that help with projects and research.

Before she joined the college in 2007, Zamon said she was an archivist for the National Press Club. She is also the author of the book The Lone Arranger: Succeeding in a Small Repository was published by the Society of American Archivists in February 2012.
