Robert Kennedy, Jr., former independent presidential candidate, was nominated by Trump to serve as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). 

In a statement, Trump said Kennedy would restore agencies under his control “to the traditions of gold standard scientific research and beacons of Transparency.” 

Kennedy has repeatedly spread false conspiracy theories about the effectiveness of vaccines.

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, who is currently under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, has been nominated by Trump to serve as attorney general. 

Trump referred to Gaetz in a statement as a “deeply gifted and tenacious attorney.”

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate who endorsed Trump in 2024, has been nominated to serve as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). 

“For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our country and the freedoms of all Americans,” Trump said in a statement. “As a former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, she has broad support in both parties.” 

Gabbard left the Democratic Party in 2022 and became a Republican earlier this year.

Billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy were nominated by Trump to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Trump said in a statement that the two will “pave the way” for the administration to “dismantle government democracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies.” 

On the campaign trail, Trump said he wanted to eliminate the Department of Education, among other bureaucratic changes.

Pete Hegseth, an Army veteran and Fox News host, was tapped by Trump to lead the Department of Defense (DOD). 

Hegseth served tours in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, and Afghanistan and received two Bronze Stars. 

Trump said in a statement that Hegseth has used his platform at Fox to “fight for our military and veterans.” 

John Ratcliffe, who served as director of national intelligence during Trump’s first term, was nominated to serve as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). 

In a statement, Trump called Ratcliffe a “warrior for truth and honesty.”

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, an evangelical pastor, has been asked to serve as the U.S. ambassador to Israel in the Trump administration. 

In a statement, Trump said Huckabee would “work tirelessly to bring about peace in the Middle East.” 

According to CNN, Huckabee previously said “there’s really no such thing as a Palestinian” and that a hypothetical two-state solution was “irrational and unworkable.” 

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has been tapped by Trump to serve as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). 

In a statement, Trump said Noem would work closely with border czar Tom Homan to “secure the border.” 

Noem said she looks forward to “restor[ing] safety to American communities so that families will again have the opportunity to pursue the American dream.”

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who ran against Trump in 2016, was nominated to serve as his secretary of state.

In a statement, Trump called Rubio a “very powerful voice for freedom.” 

“He will be a strong advocate for our nation, a true friend to our allies, and a fearless warrior who will never back down to our adversaries,” he said. 

Tom Homan, who served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has been appointed as Trump’s border czar. 

Trump said in a statement that Homan will be in charge of the nation’s borders, “including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security.” 

When asked whether mass deportations could be carried out without separating families in an interview on PBS News Hour, Homan said, “families can be deported together.” 

Homan also contributed to Project 2025, a blueprint for a second Trump presidency published by the Heritage Foundation.

Stephen Miller, a MAGA firebrand and staunch ally of Trump, has been named as the president-elect’s deputy chief of staff for policy. Miller served as chief speechwriter during Trump’s first term and has since become an advocate for stricter immigration policies. 

Florida Rep. Mike Waltz, a Green Beret who has served tours in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Africa, has been tapped to serve as Trump’s national security advisor. He currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. 

On the nomination, Trump said Waltz will be a “champion of our pursuit of peace through strength.”

Former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin was nominated by Trump to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). 

In a post on X, Zeldin said he looks forward to “getting straight to work … to unleash U.S. energy dominance, make America the AI capital of the world, bring American auto jobs back home, and so much more.”

While in Congress, Zeldin received a 14% score from the League of Conservation Voters in its congressional scorecard.

New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, who currently serves as House GOP conference chair, has reportedly been tapped to serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in the Trump administration. 

While Stefanik does not have foreign policy experience, she currently serves on the House Armed Services and Intelligence Committees. 

Trump said Stefanik would be an “incredible” ambassador, “delivering peace through strength and ‘America First’ national security policies.”

President-elect Donald Trump announced Susie Wiles would serve as his chief of staff, his first political appointment since winning the 2024 presidential election. 

Wiles served as co-chair of Trump’s 2024 election bid and is credited with running a focused and clear-eyed campaign. 

In a press release, Trump referred to Wiles as “tough, smart, innovative,” and “universally admired and respected.” 

“Susie will continue to work tirelessly to make America great again,” Trump said. “It is a well-deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female chief of staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”
