MBTA to end late-night train hours

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority will end its late-night weekend schedule on March 18.

The MBTA extended its Friday and Saturday hours for subway lines and some buses from 12:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. in 2014. According to the Boston Globe, board members voted unanimously to discontinue the service on Monday. They said the ridership did not justify the cost.

Casey Tsamis, a sophomore journalism major, said the return to limited hours was frustrating considering the large student population in Boston.

“Not everyone can get on an Uber or a Lyft and just go home like that,” Tsamis said. “It’s honestly really upsetting, because we’re college students, and we don’t have that much money.”
