Allston is on track to get a new commuter rail station.

Governor Deval Patrick, alongside Mayor Martin J. Walsh and other state officials, announced on Tuesday to restart plans for a $25 million transit station to be built in Beacon Park Yard.

“This opportunity is much more than a highway project,” said Walsh in a statement on the MBTA’s website. “It’s about unlocking the full potential of this neighborhood, enhancing our connection with the Charles River, and envisioning the future of mobility in Boston.”

The tentatively named “West Station” will connect with the Worchester Commuter Rail line.

In May, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation postponed the original plans for the station due to a lack of funds, according to the Boston Globe. 

The new Commuter Rail stop is set to open in 2020.
