Nightclub in alley closes doors

The Estate, a nightclub that has lived in Boylston Place since 2006, closed it’s doors on March 28. The building, owned by Emerson, will be renovated to be a part of the new residence hall being built at 1-3 Boylston Place.

Melanie Katz, a senior marketing communications major, said she went to The Estate at least once a month and even celebrated her 21st birthday there. Katz said it was the nightclub’s atmosphere that made it so appealing.

“It was very lively,” Katz said. “It was meant for people our age. It wasn’t afraid to be weird. It didn’t try to be something it wasn’t.”

Construction for the new residence hall begins this May, according to previous Beacon reporting.
