Offensive vandalism hurts

When an intolerant act occurs on the common ground we walk on, it affects everyone.

Regardless of our individual causes, the goal I believe we should strive for is to show unity and respect to everyone in the Emerson community.

To leave behind an anonymous message in a public space that is hurtful, damaging and marginalizing to a group is not only an act of cowardice, but shameful.,Dear Editor,

When an intolerant act occurs on the common ground we walk on, it affects everyone.

Regardless of our individual causes, the goal I believe we should strive for is to show unity and respect to everyone in the Emerson community.

To leave behind an anonymous message in a public space that is hurtful, damaging and marginalizing to a group is not only an act of cowardice, but shameful.

I encourage dialogue. I encourage Emersonians to stand up for what you believe in. I encourage them to think for themselves. I also encourage you to take a good look at who you affect when your actions disrespect the individual beliefs of others, and to express your beliefs in a way that are not going to cast a shadow upon yourself or others.

Remember, when you express your beliefs in ways that hurt others, you not only damage others, you damage your cause, your beliefs and the support and respect for your attitude, as well. Do not just think of others, think of yourself and what you stand for.

If you stand for dividing the Emerson community and contributing to an atmosphere of disrespect, then continue your unfair slander and your anonymous campaign of fear.

Let the Emerson community work together to create an environment where all beliefs are respected.
