Overseers discuss student issues with SGA

Donna Heiland, vice president and special assistant to the president, and Board of Overseers members Eric Alexander and Donald Spetner appeared at this week’s Student Government Association meeting to discuss the actions of the board in the past few months.

Sheba Wood, the multicultural commissioner, asked about the push for cultural competency training, but Alexander said it wasn’t a point of focus for the board.

Sofia Alvarado, the international student commissioner, expressed concern over whether international students receive the same internship opportunities as those from the United States do. Alexander said it hasn’t come up in their meetings, but will be discussed further.

SGA agreed to a follow-up meeting to check the progress of the board.
