What world does he live in where the purchase of a $12 million lot in Hollywood does not qualify as a “new initiative?”

In last week’s editorial “Where Does All the Money Go?” [April 3] David Rosen was cited to say that Emerson has “no special projects or new initiatives to justify the tuition jump.”
What world does he live in where the purchase of a $12 million lot in Hollywood does not qualify as a “new initiative?”
If Rosen didn’t know about the April 2 article in the Boston Business Journal announcing the purchase, then he certainly fails in his capacity as the vice president of public affairs. If he knew about the lavish purchase and chose not to disclose it, then he failed in his duty to be honest to the students whose tuition pays his salary.
