Remembered for his decades of work in Chicago radio, Emerson alumnus Roy Leonard passed away last Thursday at the age of 83 in Evanston, Illinois.
A graduate of the class of 1952, Leonard’s 31 years of reporting at Chicago’s WGN covered everything from current events to the arts. One of his WGN colleagues, Diana Dionisio, said in a statement to the Beacon that Leonard will be missed.
“Roy was a real treasure,” said Dionisio, the station’s director of sponsorship solutions. “I had the pleasure of working with him at the very tail-end of his career here at WGN TV. He was a consummate professional and a gentleman.”
