Last Sunday, students woke up to two missed calls and two emails from the college’s automated Emergency Notification System (ENS) about a stabbing just blocks from campus.
Seven men were stabbed with broken bottles and knives. Two of the victims required surgery, the Boston Globe reported. None of the victims are associated with Emerson, an ENS message said.
Boston Police Department did not respond to requests for comment.
The attacks happened outside the nightclubs Candibar and Royale located south of campus on Tremont Street. The Globe reported that about 20 people were seen brawling around 2 a.m. on the sidewalk. The ENS call was sent at 3:13 a.m., followed by an email at 3:36 a.m. No information on the cause of the fight has been released.
The Boston Police Department has not shared any new information with the Emerson College Police Department, ECPD Deputy Chief Eric Schiazza wrote in an email to the Beacon. Boston police are investigating the incident and ECPD has no further involvement, he added.
