SGA applauds theme of change and reconciliation in opinion article

I am writing in response to last week’s opinion piece “Beacon and SGA: coming together,” in which Mark Meagher concluded that there is room for change and growth in the relationship between SGA and The Beacon.

I applaud this spirit of change.,Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to last week’s opinion piece “Beacon and SGA: coming together,” in which Mark Meagher concluded that there is room for change and growth in the relationship between SGA and The Beacon.

I applaud this spirit of change.

It was in high abundance at Tuesday’s SGA meeting, the last of the semester. SGA members recapped their respective years, highlighting the various and commendable strides they had made for their constituents.

The combined endeavors of SGA senators, presidents, commissioners and board members form an extensive and diverse list that demonstrates great effort and utmost commitment toward the task of best serving every member of the student body.

Moreover, there is inertia for further change. This year’s SGA board has accomplished a great deal, and with an almost completely full board next year, they are ready to continue to serve not tradition but the various needs of the student body–needs that are shifting as the face of Emerson changes.

So here’s to change. Change in the seasons, change in SGA’s relationship with The Beacon, and–as always–changing Emerson for the better.

Press secretary, SGA
