SGA grants SPEC $161.03 in appeal

The Student Government Association granted $161.03 to SPEC, an Emerson organization for screenwriting, at their meeting on Tuesday.

Noel Keady, the treasurer for SPEC, presented an appeal to the SGA for $161.30. He said the organization will use the funds to help them bring Danny Rubin, the screenwriter for Groundhog Day, to campus in April.

After reviewing the finances detailed in the SPEC appeals packet, Tau Zaman, SGA vice president, corrected the $161.30 SPEC had mistakenly calculated, to $161.03.

Brittany Perro, class of 2011 president, spoke in favor of the appeal.

“I think they are deserving of the full amount,” Perro said. “SPEC is really great and helps students with their future.”
