SGA recognizes new orgs

In their most recent meeting, the Student Government Association funded a variety of organizations to help them produce scripts, music, and virtual reality.

SGA Executive Vice President Gabriela Kula said the association recognized Achoired Taste, an a cappella group, with $800 funding, virtual reality organization Stereoscopic with $600, and Emerson Playwrights Collective with $50. The Emerson Game Developers and Flawless Brown, an art collective for women of color, have been recognized but didn’t receive funding.

Maureen Murphy, vice president of administration and finance, also spoke to SGA members about the college’s budget. She said the college will have a planned deficit year because of the closing of Little Building.

There has been an increase of financial aid because the school is striving for more socioeconomic diversity, Murphy said.
