Bret Hauff, Former Managing Editor

Bret Hauff ’17 served as an enterprise reporter, assistant news editor and managing editor at The Berkeley Beacon during his three years at Emerson. He’s since worked as a staff writer at Longboat Observer in Florida, a staff writer at The Durango Herald in Colorado, and a freelance contributor to Collectice Colorado, where he won more than a dozen awards for his work. He elevated his journalism career as a city editor at Bozeman Daily Chronicle in Montana, following which he returned to his hometown, Alpena, MI, where he now teaches government and advises a journalism club at Alpena High School, and contributes to local and regional publications in Northern Michigan. He snowboards, skiis, kayaks, mountain bikes, hikes, climbs and fly fishes in his free time.
