After an unrelated stabbing and a robbery took place near the Emerson campus on Sept. 3, the Emerson College Police Department sent out multiple campus-wide email alerts notifying the Emerson community of both events.    

The first update––distributed by the college’s Emergency Notification System (ENS) at 1 p.m.––said the Boston Police Department was investigating a stabbing that took place on Mason Street near the Paramount Center loading dock.

An update regarding the stabbing, sent via ENS email 30 minutes later, said there were two victims in the assault, and that the suspect had been apprehended. The email read that no Emerson community members were involved in the incident. A police spokesperson near the scene confirmed the victims had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

An Emerson student was robbed at 12 p.m. the same day in front of 558 Washington St., according to a campus-wide email sent by Robert Smith, chief of ECPD.

The perpetrator, described by the student as a heavy-set female wearing a pink t-shirt and jeans, grabbed the student and demanded money. Smith said in the email that the student gave the assailant a small amount of cash and left unharmed.
