Emerson College’s Boston classes will be held virtually on Tuesday, Jan. 27 after the city was hit with 20 inches of snow as of 7 p.m. Monday.
In a community-wide email, the college announced that Emerson’s Boston campus will reopen, after having been closed all of Monday, but all classes will be held remotely, “wherever possible.” The email, sent just after 6 p.m. on Monday, requested that all non-essential employees work from home, as travel conditions will remain difficult.
“The snow storm that impacted the Boston area yesterday and today continues to cause challenges for our communities, including our faculty, staff, and students,” the announcement read. “We recognize some people are without power, some are waiting for streets to be plowed, and many K-12 school districts are closed again tomorrow.”
Boston Public Schools will remain closed on Tuesday due to the weather. Suffolk University will also hold classes remotely. Some schools will open tomorrow, with universities like Northeastern University resuming normal operations.
While the bulk of the storm is reported to be over, Boston residents can expect another 1 to 3 inches overnight. Campus is set to resume normal operations on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
On Tuesday, the Dining Center will be open regular hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Max will also be operating with normal hours, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Other dining facilities will remain closed, along with the Fitness Center and the College Bookstore. The Iwasaki Library will be open for limited hours, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Any changes or updates will be communicated via email or on Emerson Today. The college asked students to stay up to date with the National Weather Service in Boston and “monitor conditions prior to traveling.”
