Summer Preview: Literary Column

Summer+Preview%3A+Literary+Column

Summer Preview is a sneak peek into content the Berkeley Beacon will be unveiling in the fall. It will provide descriptions and samples of columns, opinion pieces, and news students can expect to see in the fall.

A new literary column will be launching this fall—covering everything from novels to essay collections to poetry, the column will focus on all things current in the literary world right now.

Need recommendations for a contemporary read but don’t know where to start? Want to know which Pulitzer Prize nominations are deserving of your commitment? Unsure of whether it’d be worth it to shell out 25 bucks for that new hardcover celebrity memoir?

The literary column has got you covered. It’ll look at what’s culturally and critically relevant, but with the background of classic literature in mind. Dina Kleiner, previously news editor and currently the Beacon’s reporter on all things Title IX, will be writing the column. She’ll review works like Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, Phoebe Robinson’s You Can’t Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have To Explain, When Watched by Leopoldine Core, Sex Object by Jessica Valenti, Tig Notaro’s I’m Just A Person, poetry from Jenny Zhang, Warton Shire, and Tony Hoagland, and more!

Looking forward to reading with you this year!
