Emerson announced Monday that 172 Tremont will have a weeklong delay in full reopening as COVID cases in Massachusetts continue to rise.

Josh Hamlin, director for campus centers, sent an email Monday morning saying that 172 Tremont is set to reopen on Saturday, Jan. 30 and will have a capacity limit of two people per room for the foreseeable future. This limit marks a change from the room-dependent capacities of the fall semester.

Previously, 172 Tremont was going to open with limited hours between Jan. 6 and Jan. 18, according to Assistant Vice President for Campus Life Erik Muurisepp.

This announcement comes days after the college sent out an email saying that in-person classes and move-in times will be pushed back a week later than scheduled in light of guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Operational hours for the building are set to remain the same, from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily. However, they are subject to change in line with college or city guidelines.
