The majority of the Ansin Building will reopen to students, faculty, and staff on Wednesday, Sept. 17. However, some classrooms on the seventh and eighth floors will remain closed until next Monday, Sept. 22, as cleanup continues, according to a college communication released on Tuesday night.
Classrooms 701, 703, 704, 803, and 804 will remain closed, the email stated. On Tuesday, Ansin Building classes were shifted online for students in affected classrooms. However, for students whose meeting rooms remain impacted throughout the week, the email said instructors will reach out with an alternate meeting location.
The eighth floor was the site of a damaged HVAC pipe that started flooding in the building on Monday night, leading to an evacuation and class adjustments for students on Tuesday. According to the communication, the seventh and eighth floors were “most impacted by the water leak,” though ECPD told the Beacon on Monday night that all floors below the eighth had initially been impacted by flood water.
The email also thanked the Facilities Management Crews who worked throughout last night and today in responding to the issue.
“This is a developing situation, and we thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to work to resolve this issue as quickly and safely as possible,” the email read, and encouraged faculty, staff, and students to check their email in the morning for updates.
