The men’s basketball team will head to New Jersey on Friday to face off against Rowan University in the first round of the Division III National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament.

Rowan will host the Lions after the public university in Glassboro, New Jersey, finished its season with a 21-6 record and won the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship.

The Lions finished their season with a 16-11 record after commanding a 93-75 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference finals.

In the upcoming tournament, 64 teams are separated into four quadrants and seeded from one through 16. The NCAA selected Emerson as a twelfth-seeded team and Rowan as a fifth-seeded team.

Rowan enters the matchup atop the NCAA rankings for teams from the Atlantic region. The NCAA did not list Emerson on the rankings for teams from the Northeast region.

The winner of the matchup will play either fourth-seeded Nichols College or thirteenth-seeded Middlebury College in the second round of the tournament.

The Lions will play the Profs on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.
