FAB grants Emerson Fashion Society appeal to host annual showcase

The Student Government Association Financial Advisory Board approved a $9,400 appeal from the Emerson Fashion Society to fund the second annual Spring Fashion Showcase.

Final approval lies with SGA joint session on April 9 as the appeal totals more than $5,000.

The event aims to bring attention to lesser known designers and give students a chance to network with people in the fashion industry. All proceeds from the event will go to the Boston Public Schools’ art department.

“I’m looking forward to having more people and more Emerson students because that will raise more money,” Nia Evans, editor-in-chief of Index Magazine, said.

EFS hopes to hire the band Inner Wave to perform at the event and attract more Emerson students to the event. If they manage to hire the band, tickets will sell for $20. If not, EFS will most likely charge $10 Evans said. The club also invited local high schoolers and the friends and families of the designers attending the event. The event will take place at 338 Newbury St. on Friday, April 12.

Following the appeal, FAB closed the meeting to the public to discuss annual budget plans for SGA-funded organizations.
