Monday, Aug. 28

The Emerson College Police Department (ECPD), Facilities Management, and the Boston Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm in the dining center. Boston Fire found no indications of carbon monoxide. Bennet Communications were told to reset the alarm system.

The Office of Housing and Resident Life (OHRL) turned over a pipe and a jar possibly containing marijuana confiscated from a student’s room in the Colonial Building.

Thursday, Aug. 31

ECPD responded to a report that a man was harassing people and stole a bag of potato chips from the Barnes & Noble. Officers stopped and identified the individual, who was given a No Trespass Notice and told to stay away from college property.

ECPD and Facilities Management investigated a report from 2 Boylston Place that a desk lamp provided by the college began to spark and short circuit. Facilities Management conducted a safety check of the outlet and found no signs of fire damage.

Sunday, Sept. 3

ECPD, Facilities Management, and The Boston Police Department responded twice to carbon monoxide alarms at the new dining center. Boston Fire did not detect any carbon monoxide on either occasion. Facilities Management repaired the carbon monoxide sensor.

Monday, Sept. 4

ECPD and OHRL discovered an underage student in possession of alcohol and a vaporizer inhaler while investigating an alarm coming from a student’s suite. Both items were confiscated.

ECPD and Boston Fire responded to a fire alarm at the 12 Hemenway residence hall. An investigation revealed someone hit the fire alarm station on accident, causing the system to activate. There was no fire and no injuries to report.

OHRL turned over a glass pipe and a small plastic tube confiscated from a room in 2 Boylston Place. The pipe contained burnt resin and the tube contained marijuana residue.

Tuesday, Sept. 5

A Piano Row resident assistant turned over a large confiscated kitchen knife that violated housing policy.

ECPD spoke to students who reported being frightened by a man who was yelling at people. The students were offered safety escorts. ECPD searched the area for the man but did not find him.

Wednesday, Sept. 6

A staff member turned over a wallet found on Boylston Street that belonged to a student. ECPD discovered a fraudulent license during an inventory of the wallet’s contents. The wallet’s owner was contacted to retrieve their property and will be disciplined for owning the fake ID.

Workers using a haze machine inside the Cutler Majestic Theatre set off a fire alarm inside the Tufte Building when a door leading from the theater to Tufte was left open.

OHRL turned over a glass pipe and grinder confiscated from students in 2 Boylston Place. The grinder contained a small amount of what appeared to be marijuana.

Friday, Sept. 8

A Whiskey Saigon patron who had become lost inside the nightclub entered the Walker Building and pulled a fire alarm there. The patron told ECPD she had pulled the fire alarm when she could not find an exit. Whiskey Saigon was evacuated, but there was no fire or injuries to report.

The Securitas guard working in the Walker Building lobby reported a loud pop and fire coming from an electrical outlet at the security desk. ECPD and Facilities Management investigated and found a faulty electrical cord that caused the electrical outlet to short. There was no actual fire to report.

Saturday, Sept. 9

Two students returning from the 12 Hemenway residence hall were robbed at knife point by an unknown assailant. The students reported the incident to ECPD after returning to campus and neither were injured.

ECPD and the BPD responded to an altercation between two non-college affiliated people outside the Cutler Majestic Theatre. BPD handled the situation.

Sunday, Sept. 10

A group of students reported that they were chased by a man while inside the Boston Common. BPD also received calls about the same individual. ECPD searched for the man after speaking to the students. BPD found the man near the P.F. Chang’s China Bistro on South Charles St.
