Emerson Alumni Valerie Becker-Nogueira ‘08 has been appointed director of events and corporate partnerships at the Boston Arts Academy Foundation.

Becker-Nogueira, graduated from the Boston Arts Academy as a member of its third graduating class and pursued her higher education at Emerson College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Communications. As the founding chair of the Boston Arts Academy Alumni Board and Association, she was pivotal in establishing a robust network of over 1,800 BAA alumni spanning 26 states and beyond.

Her leadership was instrumental in creating a solid foundation that continues to connect talented individuals from the Boston Arts Academy community.

In her new position, Becker-Nogueira’s role is to maintain the academy’s relationships with corporate partners and facilitate events.

As a BAA alum, she understands firsthand the needs of our students and will be able to apply her experiences to better help the Foundation create programming that continues to bridge the gap between the Boston Arts Academy’s allocation from the Boston Public Schools, and the true cost of a high-quality education that is both arts-intensive and college preparatory,” said Boston Arts Academy Foundation President & CEO Denella Clark in a recent press release.

Becker-Nogueira embarked on her non-profit career at the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, where she witnessed the transformative impact of non-traditional educational programs on local youth. During the recession, she joined the American Red Cross, contributing  to healthcare worker training, food distribution, and disaster relief assistance. Becker-Nogueira’s diverse professional experiences in healthcare, consulting, and the performing arts exemplify her steadfast dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Expressing enthusiasm for her new role, Becker-Nogueira emphasized her dedication to supporting students, recognizing the pivotal role the Boston Arts Academy played in her own life. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study dance and attend college, experiences that shaped her into the person she is today.
