I, a pure white rabbit
Nibbling on graying grass
Among the hue-changing leaves
When I saw you
A red fox
Staring at me
We were strange.
Instead of scrambling away
Desperate to keep my life
I stared at you
Curiously
Instead of pouncing on me
For fresh meat
You stared at me
Likewise.
The bare look in your eyes
Luring me in
I thought
Their stomach is surely warmer
than the upcoming winter
Leaping into your jaws
I waited for your teeth to
Clamp down
And turn my fur
Into a dark red
Like yours
